Wooden floors, original beamed ceilings and large granite faced windows help to showcase our products.....upon entering, most customers exclaim..."ooo, it smells so good in here" or "isn't this just so pretty...." Fresh Floral Scents

Breezy, sunny scents from Fragonard of Grasse, France showcase the best of light floral fragrance for anytime of year. Rose de Mai (May Rose) is an intoxicating floral, like walking through a softly spicy rose garden on a dewy morning. Freesia is a light blend of white flowers, a dash sweet, but fresh and easy to wear. Figuier Fleur (Fig Flower) is a best-seller in France, and only available In the Clover in the Northeast. One of my favorites, fig is a warm, woody scent blended with nutmeg and lightened a bit by the addition of bergamot. When you wear this, people say," hmmmm, what is that you have on...??" Intriguing.
Fleur de Vanille (Vanilla Flower) is a newly reformulated vanilla, and wow, is it nice. I am not a big vanilla fan, but this one I love. It is vanilla of a slightly sweet flavor, with a little bit of spice, a little bit of chocolate and some interesting green notes to keep it fresh and light. Let's just say that men love this one. All of these scents are from Fragonard's Naturelles Collection--so they are clean, bright scents that are immensely easy to wear. We'd love to help you find your favorite......stop in today!

Our Annual Open House was a terrific success, everyone enjoyed a relaxing day full of great food and wine catered by Treats and lovely reflexology and seated chair massage on the terrace. Many people took advantage of time spent with skincare specialist Vicky Caira from Mario Badescu Skincare and Lisa Decorbert from Paula Dorf Cosmetics. A common misconception is that In the Clover is a store for "girls only"--not true! We carry lots of great grooming items for guys of all ages, and we have some men who will only buy their soap and shaving supplies from us! In the spirit of celebrating Father's Day on June 21st, we present some of our best-selling items for men......pictured above is Speick soap from Germany and Provence soap from France. Both bars are spicy fragrant, clean and refreshing. A surprising best-seller has been the pain-free nose hair trimmer from Tweezerman (lets face it, most every guy needs one of these...) "Be the Coolest Dad on the Block" is a great collection of jokes, games, puzzles, and various other entertaining bits of wisdom to turn Dad into the neighborhood hero.

My "baby" girl is now 15, but I still remember those first months, wanting gentle products to use on her tender skin, and wanting to dress her in the softest garments. If only I had these wonderful products that we carry in the store......Weleda is a highly regarded name in natural bodycare and they produce some amazing baby and mommy products. In the Clover Soap has arrived!!

Here it is...finally! I have been working for many months now on creating my own soap for In the Clover, and it is now in store for you to enjoy. Wow, am I ever proud of this product. This is soap so pure, so gentle, you could call it skin food. Made in Maine, hand mixed, hand poured, and sliced in store after many months of curing. Pictured above is our Gardener's Soap--a lovely blend of palm, coconut, and olive oils, rainwater, shea butter, pumice and cornmeal, and pure essential oils of sage and lemongrass. Lathers beautifully, rinses cleanly, lasts a nice, long time. Great at the kitchen sink too, to rid hands of garlic or onion scents.

Ocean Path Soap is formed from our vegetable oil base with the additions of shea butter and Maine seaweed (terrific skin soothers), local oats for exfoliation, parsley for color and essential oils of geranium, cedarwood, oakmoss, and a hint of grapefruit. This soap has the look and freshness of an early morning walk along a wooded shore path in Maine.

Summer Flowers is a lovely combination of jasmine, rose and sandalwood infused into a soothing shea butter base, with French lavender sprinkled throughout the bar. For true floral lovers.

Here is a real winner--Pink Grapefruit Jumble Soap! Looks good enough to eat and it's so pure, you almost could.... This is a refreshing combination of a grapefruit scented base, with chunks of beeswax oat and gardener's soap blended in just for fun. The result is a jumble of creamy, refreshing citrus, with the added skin soothing benefits of local beeswax and oats. Delicious!
Other "flavors" of our handmade soap currently available: Vanilla-Oat Beeswax, Lemon Verbena with Calendula Petals, and Sweet Almond -like showering with soft, sudsy marzipan. Yum. The funny looking soap that's really fun to use

Here is a strange-looking item that is actually one of our best sellers...sea sponge soaps! Creamy rich goat's milk soap is poured through natural (sustainably harvested) sea wool sponges to create a useful soap for a truly enjoyable bath or shower. I can't tell you how many of these we have sold in the store and shipped to customers who love the scent, texture, and mounds of lather these sponge soaps create. With one hand, you can gently cleanse and exfoliate while enjoying one of three tempting scents: cucumber-melon (clean, slighty fruity and fresh), invigorating lemongrass, and coco-mango (a trip to the tropics--the best of coconut combined with slighty sweet mango). In the Clover Granola is the culmination of a long researched food project by my husband, Scott. He has been working for some time on a no added sugar, oven baked snack food that he could enjoy on his healthy eating plan. We're so hooked on this stuff, and so many friends are as well, that Scott decided to receive his licensing from the state to sell his edible creation in our store. We hand out samples daily, and find that our customers really appreciate a naturally sweet, delightfully chewy snack mix that is also quite fabulous with milk, soymilk, or over yogurt. Our all organic ingredients:

Hand-crafted French room deodorizer

Here is one ingenious item, created in France and not often found in America. Papier d'Armenie consists of a lovely handmade clay disk that is embossed with a paisley design and a grooved crevice made to hold incense papers (papier d'armenie). These papers come 3 to a page in a small matchbook type booklet, simply tear one paper strip out of the booklet, fold like an accordian, place in clay disc and light. The paper burns like incense, emitting a soft stream of room deodorizing molecules. This system is used all over France, especially in cafes to rid the odor of cigarette smoke, but it also works very effectively in removing cooking, pet odors, or any particulary unsavory scent.... How does the burning incense smell?? To me, it is a woody cedar type fragrance-earthy but not overpowering. Papier d'Armenie is unusual, functional, and one of our best-selling home fragrance products.

Malin and Goetz has arrived!

Malin and Goetz bodycare products arrived this week, and I am so happy and excited to be the only store in Maine to stock these terrific shampoos, conditioners, and body washes. A devoted In the Clover customer referred me to these products, and when I was in New York last January, I had a tour of Malin and Goetz facilities in Manhattan and was able to personally meet with the founders of the company, Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz. I was super impressed with their down to earth philosophy of bodycare (simple is best), their use of very high quality ingredients, and with the beautiful true scents of their product line.

What is the greatest selling point of these items?? Their highly concentrated formulas!! One small half of a pea sized drop of peppermint shampoo provides loads of creamy lather, scalp-stimulating peppermint scent, and great shine and control for all types of hair-even color treated! The cilantro hair conditioner provides even more control and softness without weighing hair down in heavy oils. I really look forward to a shower using either bergamot or geranium body wash--again, a drop on a sponge creates lots of softly scented cleansing lather that never dries or strips the skin of moisture. A ray of scented sunshine

Today brings warm sunshine to our little town in Maine, and it is so welcome after several dreary damp days.....and so one of our best-selling fragrances comes to mind--Soleil from Fragonard. Soleil means sunshine in French, and this eau de parfum is a delightful blend of many luscious floral notes. Jasmine, freesia, and wisteria intertwine their haunting flowery essences on a background of amber and sandalwood. This is a happy, huge floral that the ladies love! Fragonard has been distilling perfumes since the 1800's in Grasse, France.
